I've
been around quite a few years,
Shared good time and even shed tears,
I've told some stories and done some "Braggin"
So now I'll tell you about the Volkswagen.
I've
loved the Volksy since I was a kid,
And on then spent a mighty "Quid",
I've had some good ones and some bad,
But over all I still feel glad.
They some in lots of shapes and sizes,
And often bring us many surprises,
But when it's all put on the line,
They've really stood the test of time.
When
I look back over the past,
I know they're a car that will really last.
I've parted with some I should have kept,
And that has caused me some regret.
When
you sum it up you can't keep the lot.
So in my mind I've got a soft spot,
And that is always why you must dream
To be involved in the Volksy Scene
Most recognisable is the bug
With performance sometimes like a slug,
But now with speed equipment at last,
You can really make your Volksy fast.
VW hero's have come and gone
So to mention names would be wrong,
There's been so many and I won't trouble you,
'cause they've all uplifted the VW.
I've seen VW's compete in races,
Thrashing all others by many paces,
'cause on the track they really shine,
as they're usually first across the line.
But, racing isn't all you'll see,
And don't forget the Formula Vee,
There's something else that's sweeping nations
'cause lots are doing restorations.
So when restoring don't be fooled,
Cause Volksie's even made water cooled,
We must endeavour to keep the lot,
And show the World just what we've got.
The hippies loved to drive their Kombi's
Looking like some worn out zombies,
So day to day and hour by hour,
They helped promote the "Flower Power".
The Volksie's definitely come a long way,
And old ones are in demand today,
If you find an original make it your treasure,
'cause you're guaranteed a lifetime of pleasure.
I love and admire the Volkswagen Marque,
'cause they leave all others in the dark,
and there's never anything as nice,
as a Volksy that's your at any price,
So now when it comes to the end of this story,
The Volkswagen shines in all its glory,
It's proven itself over all its days,
To be loved and honoured now and always.
