From Bonython Park to Colley Reserve

Volks Fest Weekend

The festival programme kicked off on Friday Nov 2nd with a Cruise from Plane Tree Drive, through the western suburbs. First stop was McDonalds, Fulham Gardens for a junk food fix, then on to Henley Beach. From there it was south again to Glenelg, then to Marion Shopping Centre, before heading off to McDonalds at Castle Plaza Edwardstown. Around 45 cars turned out for the cruise. Two cars which turned heads were Nat's Manx Buggy - on its first outing - and a well presented 70's model Audi Quattro - the car that started the revolution in all wheel drive power machines. The next night, Sat 3rd was marked by the annual Club Dinner at the Hackney Hotel. The crowd of 50, including guests from the Volkswagen Club of Victoria had a really enjoyable evening. Then, the main event, Volks Fest on Sunday 4th.

Volks Fest Hits Colley Reserve

For 2001 the Club made a shift form the previous grounds - Bonython Park - to Colley Reserve, with the aim of lifting the profile of the event and to take it "up a level". A small shower of rain early in the day failed to dampen the enthusiasm. The BBQ and VolksCafe proved a big hit as did the band - Mojo. First prize in the club raffle was a Volkswagen AFL match football, ensuring plenty of demand for tickets.
