Michael
Cheetham volunteered to plan and run this cruise, picking up on the
image of the events of the same name overseas. Jan 16th turned out
to be a perfect day for a run - 25 degrees and a pleasant breeze. |

T-shirts
and stickers were handed out to drivers as they checked in at the
Plane Tree Dve kick off point. The cars headed off at 10:15 am on
the run to Belair National Park. Road works on North Tce and slow
traffic lights made the run through the city a bit tedious but at
least we were out and we were in VW's at that. Once we hit ANZAC
Highway the pace picked up and it seemed to take no time to reach
the Bay (Glenelg).

After
looping around Colley Tce the 15 car convoy cruised the length of
Jetty Rd. Not many things were moving at this time of day so those
who were around certainly took notice. From there it was on to Brighton
Rd and from there to Daws Rd. Here the group reassembled after being
separated by those infernal traffic lights before starting off again
for Belair Rd.

On
arrival at Belair, the cars were parked around the perimeter of
the main oval. Once the club banner was erected and the BBQ set
up things really started cooking...Picnic baskets, shade tents and
eskies were the order of the day.

The
atmosphere was relaxed and jovial as members mingled and checked
out each other's cars. A real highlight for attendees were the Bug-Jam
T-shirts printed by Michael - they ROCKED.

Belair
proved itself as an excellent venue for a cruise. Thanks to the
Belair National Park staff for their co-operation. Next year, we
hope for an even larger crowd.
