Historic Registration

When you apply to join the club and your membership is approved, the process is as follows:
  • You will receive a welcome email.
  • On receipt of your welcome email, come along to the next general meeting at the Austrian Club.
  • Bring along your vehicle registration certificate, your licence and $5 for a log book.
  • One of the Club registration officers will then complete the required MR334 paperwork for you to take to a Service SA Centre to complete the process. We will also issue you with a log book.
  • This log book is valid for up to 3 years, but needs to be authorised and stamped at the beginning of the next and following financial years.
If you have historic registration you must be a financial member. Ensure that you have paid your renewal by the 30th June.

IF YOUR MEMBERSHIP LAPSES, OR YOUR LOG BOOK HAS NOT BEEN STAMPED AND AUTHORISED,
YOUR VEHICLE IS UNREGISTERED.

CLUB REGISTRATION PROCESS

As a financial member of the Volks Enthusiasts Club SA you are entitled to access to the Club Registration scheme. Our register currently lists over 200 vehicles on the scheme and this article is provided to assist club members who may wish to participate.

  • To be eligible, you must be a financial member of the VEC and your vehicle must be more than 25 years old.
  • To get your car onto the scheme, bring the most recent registration papers and your licence to a club meeting or event, where an Authorised Person nominated by the club will complete the MR334 Form and give you a copy.  A ‘Log Book’ will also be issued to you at a cost of $5.00.
  • Take the MR334 Form along with your registration papers to a Service SA branch, which will refund any outstanding registration and then process your Club Registration.
DO NOT drive your vehicle after this without filling in an entry in your logbook.

This is NOT the end of it. You must remain a financial member and have your logbook endorsed every year by an Authorised Person to keep your registration current. The Club holds a Registration Day event at Mt Barker Toyota every year in June to assist in this, and we encourage everyone to attend.

Important Stuff

When you sign the MR334, you agree to comply with the Club Registration Code of Practice, available at:
https://www.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0017/10439/Code_of_Practice_2024_Update_.pdf

  • Failure to comply with the Code of Practice will result in you driving unregistered & uninsured.
  • Driving without an entry in your Logbook means you are driving unregistered & uninsured.
  • The club MUST notify the Registrar of Motor Vehicles of all members who have failed to renew their membership, two months after expiry.
  • DO NOT drive your car after June 30, unless you have rejoined.

Other Stuff

  • Club Registration allows you to register your car for under $100 annually. That provides you with 90 days of use during that period. You may place your car on Club Registration for a three year period but the 90 day limit applies to each 12-month period.
  • An entry in your Logbook is called a journey and covers you from midnight to midnight on that date. If you drive past midnight, you must make a new entry for that next day.
  • The commencement date and expiry date on your registration papers is the period in which the 90 day use limit applies.
  • If you use your 90 days up and wish to drive the car, simply go to Service SA and re-register the vehicle on full registration. If you wish to go back on Club Registration, you will require a new MR334 and log book.
  • If you cannot make it to a Club Meeting, you may be able to persuade your friendly Authorised Person to process your paperwork outside of the meeting, such as a Committee Meeting, Club run etc.
  • Historic Registration is NOT transferable. If you sell the car, any remaining registration and the Log book are cancelled. The new owner must register the vehicle anew. You are also required to notify the club when you have sold a vehicle on Historic Registration.
